'New' grid district looks familiar
Feb. 2, 2010

Class A district football will look somewhat different for the Montezuma Braves the next two seasons.

But, those differences will include some familiar faces.

The new district involving the Braves was announced Tuesday, Feb. 2. It includes Belle Plaine, BGM, HLV, Iowa Valley, Lynnville-Sully and North Mahaska.

Belle Plaine and Iowa Valley are dropping down from Class 1A. Iowa Valley has appeared on Montezuma's non-district schedule in recent years and Belle Plaine and the Braves formerly were in the same Class 1A district.

Lynnville-Sully, another school that has been on the Braves' non-district schedule, is moving over from another district.

The district has seven teams, meaning there will be six district games as has been the case the last two years. A number of Class A districts around the state have just six teams.
