God will help us through mountains, valleys
May 15, 2008

Members of the Montezuma High School Fellowship of Christian Athletes chapter said goodbye to their graduating seniors and to the 2007-2008 school year on Thursday evening.

Huddle leader John Bushong compared the book of Deuteronomy to a graduation speech.

"It's 33 chapters and it's like one long speech," he said.

"The Israelites learned during their 40 years in the desert that they had to rely on God," he said. "What they learned over those 40 years was how awesome God is."

"The land they were going through had mountains and valleys. Life is like that," Bushong said. "Some 23 chapters in this book explain what you need to do in order to make it."

"The Israelites learned to fix words that God had given them in their hearts and minds."

"We can follow God's way 100 percent and still have troubles," Bushong said. "But God will get us through them."

"I think Deuteronomy is totally relevant today," Bushong said.

Each senior was given a Message Bible at the end of the meeting.

Earlier, the entire group adjourned to the Dairy King for treats, courtesy of John & Christy Bushong.
