A loss, but Bravette JVs show improvement
Jan. 24, 2012
It was an improved showing for the junior varsity girls, despite a 42-30 loss to North Mahaska at home on Monday, Jan. 23.
North Mahaska led 11-7 after one quarter and 23-14 at halftime. The Bravettes struggled to score in the third quarter and couldn't recover.
"We gave a great effort in the fourth quarter," said coach Stew Timm. "We were to within single digits late in the game, but free throws made a huge difference."
Timm said the Warhawks had one girl who made as many free throws as the Bravettes attempted. "She was 12-for-16 and we lost by 12 points," the coach said.
"We actually shot a better percentage from the field (41 percent) but were not able to get stops when we needed," Timm said.
"Overall, I thought the girls did a nice job on both ends of the floor and we bounced back with a good showing after stuggling the last two games."
Bravette scoring: Courtney Petersen 9, Clara Johnson 6, Katelyn Gregory 4, Alex Brenner 4, Mackenzie James 4, Abbi Nelson 3.
UP NEXT - The Bravettes host Lynnville-Sully on Thursday, Jan. 26.
