8th grade boys win to finish at 9-1
Feb. 4, 2010

NEW SHARON - Montezuma's 8th grade basketball team put the capper on a 9-1 season with a 42-18 roll past North Mahaska on Monday, Feb. 1.

"What can I say that I haven't said already?" said Braves coach Mark Thomsen. "When you play as a team, the chance of winning games increases. The boys have done that all season and I am proud of the way they ended their year."

Dillon Wilhelm scored 13 points, and had five rebounds, six assists and six steals. Logan Battreall had 10 points and Kane Barker had eight points and five rebounds.

"I thought Bryant Sutfin saved his best for last," Thomsen said, citing five pionts and a tie for the team lead in rebounds with five. "And he played a great defensive game," the coach said.
